Montana Art Display Series
Secretary of State Brad Johnson is providing Montana artists the opportunity to display their works in the lobby of the Secretary of State’s office in the historic Capitol building in Helena. The only criterion we have is that the artworks somehow depict Montana’s history, heritage, or culture. Because we rotate the artwork every four months, we look forward to giving many artists from all over the state this special opportunity.

Past Artists
Well-known Helena artist Louis Archambault was displayed his renowned work depicting the Lewis and Clark Expeditions, which he began painting in 1995, when he embarked on creating one painting a year, with the plan to create a total of ten in the series by the bicentennial celebrated in 2005.
Al Feldstein is a Montana artist who lives on a 270 acre ranch south of Livingston and north of Yellowstone National Park, where he practices his fine art. His brilliant and detailed acrylic canvasses, which include western art, landscape art, wildlife art, sci-fi art and fantasy art, give no clue to his nefarious past.
Our first display featured the work of Jody Menge, who was born in Saco and currently lives in Hilger. She graduated from MSU-Bozeman School of Art in 1983. Her paintings have been exhibited in museum, solo and group exhibitions in Bozeman, Billings, Big Timber, Great Falls, Bigfork, Lewistown, Havre and many other Montana cities. She has won numerous awards, including the 2005 Blackfoot Valley Art Auction Silver Award for Painting.
Born in Great Falls, and raised in Livingston, Jennifer Robbins has been interested in art ever since she can remember. She initially attended Montana State University in 1979, with a major in Fine Arts, but graduated with a degree in Sociology. She is currently employed as a municipal arborist and enjoys the outdoors, from which her inspiration comes. Jennifer’s watercolors have been displayed in Bigfork, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena, and Lewistown. Her work has been featured at Birds and Beasley’s in Helena, and she received the second place award in Bozeman's 2006 Sweet Pea Art Exhibition.
Carol Zirkle (aka CAZ) was born and raised in Minnesota. After working for two decades in a corporate job, she moved to Montana to become an artist. She now lives in rural, southwestern Montana. She uses vibrant pastel pigments and pencil to capture "snapshots" reflecting the best of today's American west. Her landscapes and skyscapes pull the viewer into the beauty of the scene. Her portraits depict a proud way of life with people who embrace partnerships with animals and nature.
