Live Training

Secretary of State Corey Stapleton announced the schedule of live notary education classes for 2017 Spring and Summer. “Notary 2017 – The Basics and Beyond” is a four-hour class open to both new and experienced notaries public. The material will cover:

  • The requirements for becoming a notary and holding the notarial office
  • The powers and duties of a notary public for the state of Montana
  • The types of notarial acts and how to differentiate between them
  • Completing correct notarial certificates
  • Completing proper journal entries
  • eNotarization and Remote Notarization

Classes are offered at no charge, but reservations are required due to space limitations. Reserve your seat now!

Online Notary Training

The Secretary of State’s office offers comprehensive on-line training, Notary 101 – The Basics. This eLearning opportunity is designed exclusively for Montana notary applicants and has been updated to reflect the changes enacted by the 2015 Legislature. This course covers the laws, rules, ethics, and best practices that new notary applicants must know in order to successfully pass the Montana Notary Public Examination. It is also an excellent review for current notaries.There is no charge for this course.
