Municipal General Elections

Municipal General Election: November 5, 2013

If your county is conducting the election by mail ballot:

  • Active Electors are mailed a ballot 15 to 25 days before Election Day.
  • Inactive Electors must reactivate their voter registration before a ballot will be mailed.
  • Not all registered voters are Active Electors! (See “My Voter Page” below.)

Miss the 2012 Federal Election?
You may need to reactivate your voter registration.

Notify your county election office in writing that your voter registration information is current, or fill out and return a new voter registration card or application for absentee ballot.

You can reactivate your voter registration in person at your precinct’s polling place in counties holding a polling place election.

New required notary seal and stamp

Ensure your stamp meets the statutory requirements. Contact a Recommended Vendor.

  • A new stamp must be purchased for each term.

  • The stamp must include a commission expiration date. It is not acceptable to “fill in” the year.

  • If any information changes, the stamp must be replaced. Handwritten corrections are not valid.

  • The rectangular border is required.

  • The stamp and seal prevent you from having to manually enter this information on a notarial block!

Congratulations State Records Center Team
Meet our 2013 Governor’s Award for Excellence winners!

Meet our 2013 Governor’s Award for Excellence winners! The State Records Center Team recently worked with agencies to cut costs by focusing on disposal, or historic transfer, of records that have exhausted their usefulness to the agency.

These team members understand the importance of proper records management practices, and succinctly collaborated to ensure accurate and secure public records handling. Their work has eliminated the max capacity operations of the State Records Center and has opened storage space for our agency and others.

Congratulations SOS Records Team!

Constitution Day Celebration

Secretary of State Linda McCulloch meeting with Montana school children in the Capitol rotunda. The Constitution of the United States of America was signed on September 17, 1787. More than 200 years later, the historic occasion is marked by the celebration of Constitution and Citizenship Day.

This year, I joined the Daughters of the American Revolution and more than 150 Montana school kids in the State Capitol to discuss the importance of our Constitution and of being engaged and active citizens. My message was simple: In order to be strong and active citizens, we must all participate in our government, in our communities, and in our schools.

The U.S. Constitution is the oldest and shortest written Constitution
of any major government in the world.
It’s only 4,400 words long!
