Governor Vetoes HB180, Saving Election Day registration for all Montanans

Statement:

A victory for voters! Governor Brian Schweitzer branded HB180 with a veto on April 13, 2011. HB180 would have eliminated Election Day registration across Montana.

Nearly 19,000 Montanans have registered and voted on Election Day since the law was passed in 2005. I testified against the bill in both the House and Senate State Administration Committees to ensure that every eligible Montanan has the opportunity to cast their ballot.
