October Notice Regarding Annual Report Deadlines
HELENA – Out-of-state business owners that are legally required to file an annual report have four days to complete the process if they want to continue to do business in Montana.
Secretary of State Linda McCulloch reminded foreign corporations and foreign limited liability companies that they must file the annual report before Friday, October 30th to avoid having their certificate of authority revoked. This involuntary action prohibits the out-of-state business from legally operating in Montana until proper authority is reestablished.
“Montana has a lot to offer these businesses, and these businesses have a lot to offer Montana. I don’t want to lose any business due to delinquent filing,” said McCulloch.
Montana law states that foreign corporations and foreign limited liability companies have until November 1st to file the annual report. November 1st falls on a non-business day at the Secretary of State’s Office, therefore the filing deadline has been changed to Friday, October 30th at 5 p.m. Business owners are responsible for verifying all deadlines, as similar date changes occur commonly.
