Lewis and Clark, Rosebud and Carbon Counties Receive Grants
March 13, 2009
( Helena) – Secretary of State Linda McCulloch recently awarded the following federal grants and reimbursements to Montana counties:
- Lewis and Clark County = $12, 645.86 for AutoMark support and maintenance
- Rosebud County = $2, 341.50 for AutoMark support and maintenance
- Carbon County = $2,575.65 for AutoMark support and maintenance
“It’s great that we are able to use federal dollars to help pay for the machines’ maintenance. Taxpayer dollars are being stretched thin under our current economic status, so this grant helps immensely,” said Lewis and Clark County Treasurer/Clerk and Recorder Paulette DeHart.
“All 56 of the counties in Montana adhere to strict budgets, and every little bit counts. Elections Administrators and Clerks and Records have some of the toughest jobs in the state, and it’s a pleasure to approve these funds,” said McCulloch.
The grants and reimbursements to counties total roughly $17,563. The federal dollars stem from Montana’s portion of the Help America Vote Act.
The AutoMark support and maintenance reimbursements are awarded to counties on an annual basis. So far in 2009, eight counties have received more than $53,000 in similar grants.
