HELENA, MT – Secretary of State Linda McCulloch welcomed a group of young Helenans to the State Capitol on Wednesday to commend their recent community service and discuss the importance of ongoing civic engagement.

Secretary McCulloch presented each of the Helena Public School District’s “You Got Served” student volunteers with a Certificate of Achievement for completing numerous community and fundraising projects in and around the Queen City.

“It’s remarkable to see the amount of work thirteen kids can achieve in just a few short weeks,” Secretary McCulloch said. “Montana’s young adults are not only extraordinary, they leave positive and lasting impressions on their communities. I’m proud of each of these students, and of all the volunteers in Montana for being actively engaged citizens.”

The “You Got Served” program is intended to teach middle school students lifelong lessons through community service. An AmeriCorps VISTA member helped develop the program, and continues to act as a mentor and leader to the student volunteers.
