Nominations Being Accepted for Montana Notary of the Year Award
HELENA - Imagine selling a car or purchasing a new home without a notary public. It cannot be done.
Notaries public are constituted by law to witness the signing of important documents and administer oaths. For centuries, they have served as impartial public officers and helped protect millions of people from fraud and forgery.
Secretary of State Linda McCulloch encourages all Montanans to help her recognize the state's twenty-thousand notaries public by nominating someone they know for the inaugural Montana Notary of the Year Award.
McCulloch will announce the 2009 Montana Notary of the Year during a celebration ceremony on Thursday, November 5th, at the State Capitol in Helena. The celebration will also call attention to national Notary Public Day, which is Saturday, November 7th.
"Montana notaries public create trust in the transactions that are central to our lives," said McCulloch. "They verify the signer's identity and advance the integrity and reliability of these actions. I encourage everyone involved with notaries to nominate someone for this award."
The winner of the 2009 Montana Notary of the Year Award will automatically be nominated for the National Notary of the Year Award, which is sponsored by the National Notary Association.
