Official 2008 State Primary Election Results
Tuesday, November 4, 2008 – GENERAL ELECTION
Write-in candidates
A person may file a declaration of intent to run as a write-in for office in any election. 13-10-211(1), MCA. This includes the general election.
For the general election these must be filed by September 26, 2008 and the filing fee must be paid. 13-10-211, MCA.
Independent candidates
Independent candidates must have filed at the same time other candidates filed for office and, therefore, they cannot run in the general election if they did not file by the March 2008 candidate filing deadline. 13-10-501, 13-10-503, MCA.
Candidate Filing Dates
Tuesday, January 22, 2008 – First day to file
Thursday, March 20, 2008 – Last day to file
Thursday, March 13, 2008 – Deadline to file Nomination Petitions from Independent and Minor Party Candidates with the county election administrator.
Friday, September 26, 2008 – Last day to file as Write-In Candidate for the November 4 General Election
